Tungnath is one of the most noteworthy Shiva Temples in the World. It is roosted at a rise of 3,680m ( 12,073ft) and situated in the mountain scope of Tungnath in the Rudraprayag locale in the Indian territory of Uttarakhand. Tungnath Trek is a renowned journey and included as the least demanding trips in India.

Itinerary

Day 1Haridwar to Deoriatal via Sari Village - Drive of 5-6 hours

  • 7 AM – Meet us at Haridwar. From here, we’ll be heading towards Deoriatal you will be passing by the towns of Devprayag, Rudraprayag and Ukhimath to reach Deoriatal.
  • You are going to set your tents in Deorital and spend the night beside the ravishing lake.
  • Beginning of trek to the Deroital lake: after relaxing you will be heading for your trek to Deoriatal lake which is a 2.3km trek at an altitude 2438m above sea level. and it will take around 2hrs to reach. The temperature at the lake during the winter months varies from -5 degrees to a maximum of 12 degrees. And with the snow, glittering in the sunlight is a sight to behold. The path of the trek is determined by the Alaknanda and the Ganga, flowing nearby. 
  • Relax and enjoy the star glaced night by staying in tents. 

Day 2Trek from Deoriatal to Chopta, via Rohini Bugyal ( about 3 km from Deoriatal ) - 14km Long trek

  • We will start the day with a welcome, hot breakfast. 
  • After breakfast, the trek to Chopta will start. The trek is around 14 km long and will take the better part of the day. This is the day when you will be attaining a total elevation of more than 1000 m. Acclimatization is of utmost importance to avoid Acute Mountain Syndrome. During the trek, you will encounter the majestic view of the Garhwals, the mossy smell of the forest and the sound of snow crunching beneath your feet. 
  • You will pass through Rohini Bugyal, about 3 km away from Deoria Tal, on your way. 
  • You will be camping at Chopta overnight. 

Day 3Explore the Chopta Circuit - Chopta to Tungnath to Chandrashila and back to Chopta

  • After breakfast, the trek from Chopta to Tungnath begins. 
  • Upon reaching Tungnath, you can explore the famous Tungnath temple, known to be at least 1000 years old.  It is a highlight event of the entire journey, as the temple itself attracts a lot of tourists, on a religious pilgrimage. 
  • The day is not over yet, as you trek on to the Chandrashila peak, located at a height of more than 12,000 ft. This is one of the most important elements of the journey as well. The fantastic Himalayan birds, the awe-inspiring vista of the Garhwals, the gigantic pine, maple and oak trees in the surrounding areas and of course, the deep, pervasive silence of the mountains is enough to take your breath away. 
  • After spending some time on the summit, you start the descent back to Chopta, where you will be camping again for the night.

Day 4Return Journey from Chopta to Haridwar

  • This is the day when you journey back home. After breakfast, you will start from Chopta, back towards Haridwar. The long drive is enough to take all day, however, the views flashing by outside the window don’t let you look away long enough for you to even check your watch. The mountains, the sharp turns the road takes, the cold, biting air, the sharp descend, the clean air slowly detoxifying your body, all will remain with you for the rest of your life.
